ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Vision Impact Project (VIP) stands as a monumental milestone in Kenya Society for the Blind’s (KSB) mission to eradicate avoidable blindness and enhance inclusive eye health across Kenya; generously funded by CBM (Christian Blind Mission) and BMZ (The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development)

The project successfully pioneered a model of inclusive health delivery by upgrading regional medical infrastructure, providing vital medical consumables, and deploying cutting-edge mobile screening technology to catch vision issues early. Key to this success was a robust network of implementing partners, including Operation Eyesight, The Fred Hollows Foundation, Kikuyu Eye Hospital, Tenwek Hospital, AIC Ministries, and Kwale Eye Centre, working hand-in-hand with county health leads to train local ophthalmic staff and build community resilience.

On October 24, 2025, KSB hosted the national “Vision Impact Transition & Celebration of Milestones” workshop at its Nairobi headquarters. This event served as the official close-out and transition declaration for the project. Attended by county representatives, development partners, and the Chief Guest from CBM, the gathering celebrated the profound real-world impact of the initiative.

THE OUTCOME

A dedicated documentary screened by the KSB Communication Team highlighted how thousands of lives were transformed through sight-restoring interventions. While the core project phase has officially concluded, the strategic integration of VIP into county healthcare systems ensures that its legacy of accessible, high-quality eye care will protect Kenyan communities for generations to come.
